Clockwork Jack

This clockwork jack is a reproduction of an 18^th century mechanical device used to rotate a rotisserie. Normally mounted on the side of the hearth, this type of jack would have been found in the kitchens of large taverns or within the homes of the wealthy.

The jacks are generally ran by one of two types of mechanisms, and whether it's a flywheel or a clockwork mechanism, both these types would have a heavy weight to power it.

The jack in the photos will run for about an hour before the weight needs to be pulled up.

I made everything for the jack including the gears, escapement, and the chain.
